Plot Summary (from Rotten Tomatoes): After the mammoth success of MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING in 2002, Nia Vardalos and John Corbett reunite for this unromantic-sounding romantic comedy. As the owner of the Brooklyn florist Roses for Romance, Genevieve (Vardalos) should welcome the love-centric holiday. But heartache has kept her from serious relationships, and she has obeyed her romance rule: never go on more than five dates. New restaurateur Greg (Corbett) can’t follow any rules when it comes to dating–he doesn’t know how male-female relationships are supposed to work, so he stays unmarried. When the two pair up, they try to stick to Genevieve’s five-date mandate, but they didn’t count on love entering the equation. Writer-actress Vardalos makes her directorial debut with I HATE VALENTINE’S DAY, which also stars Stephen Guarino, Zoe Kazan, Judah Friedlander, Rachel Dratch, and Jay O. Sanders.

Heather’s Review: Okay, I loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and yes, My Big Fat Greek Life the TV show flopped because of the lack of Corbett, and yes, Corbett when he’s cleaned up is a fine fine specimen of a man.  And yes, Nia and John have good chemistry, but this was a rather formulaic fluffy movie.

I caught it on the plane coming back from Dallas, and I’ll admit to the PA system interrupting it a couple times, but I didn’t miss much, such wat the formula of the plot.

That being said, most of the supporting characters were amusing and did add to the tale.

And yes, I did shed a tear or two at the end, okay – FINE.

Heather’s Ratings:
$$$$ = Worth paying the Friday evening price
$$$= Worth paying the Matinee price
$$= Worth a rental
$ = Wait for cable
# = Skip it
